The result was fascinating: the ball, mere mili-seconds from headbutting the lens, is the centrepiece of a wonderful sports moment. Everyone in the photo seems to be looking at you, the viewer, as if to say, "GET OUT OF THE WAY!!!"
Most amazing, though, is the one spectator who, by his mere appearance, elevates this photo from intriguing to legendary. You will know him when you see him.
I am not yet convinced that he is not, in fact, a Muppet.
